It was a beautiful day out today and Mrs. Bredahl's class made their way over to the pond to use their senses and observe their surroundings. Students were able to find evidence of animals that stay active in winter by looking at scat and footprints. Mrs. Brice's class will do this tomorrow so we are requesting everyone bring snow pants as we will be sitting in the snow. With our science units on the seasons, changes in nature and connecting with the land, we will be spending more time outside when the weather is favourable. Some days we decide to do this depending on our situation so we ask that students always be dressed so they can sit and participate in the snow.
Tomorrow is Mrs. Brice's library day and Thursday is Mrs. Bredahl's. Please return all library books.
Wednesday will be fun lunch for those who ordered.
Today in our social studies and math units we looked at the different types of families we have in our class. We began our lessons with Todd Parr's book 'The Family Book'. Students used cubes and a 'key' to count their family members (see below). We then used this key to help us write a number sentence (equation) to total up the amount of family members we have. You can see examples of this below.
