As we are now in two separate classes, for Valentines Day we are asking students, who would like to participate, to bring in 22 valentines for their friends with only their own name on them. We have found in past years it is very difficult for one adult to help 22 students read and find 22 peers' bags. This way they can drop one in each bag as they move throughout the class. If they have a valentine for some closer friends in the other classes they can hand them out before/after school or during the day if there is time. We will be celebrating Valentine's Day on February 13th as there is no school on Thursday or Friday of next week in recognition of Teacher's Convention.
Because there is no school on Thursday next week, Mrs. Bredahl's class will be having library on Tuesday with Mrs. Brice's class. Please return books for Tuesday.
In social studies today we continued learning about the invisible connections we have to people and things that fill our spirit and make us happy. Mr. Magowan read a story to our class on Tuesday called 'The Invisible String' and today we read the story 'The Invisible Web'. Both books talk about how we are connected to those we love and care for and how when we do kind things for them, it spreads to other people, who spread it to other people. We then looked at our Holistic Framework and drew pictures of people and things that connect to our spirit in the yellow section.
In math today we continued with using our understanding of addition and subtraction to answer word problems and to build numbers to 100 using 10 rods and single units.
