November 8th, 2023

Today we had our Remembrance Day assembly to recognize November 11th. Our grade 5 students did a wonderful job of teaching us about the importance of the day.  Every class created a visual representation of 'Peace' to line the entrance to the gym.  Our students created doves with their hands and then wrote about peace using their senses.  We began our learning with the book 'What Does Peace Feel Like'.  Then students shared what peace can feel like, what it can taste like, what it looks like, smells like and sounds like.

Your child is bringing home 2 books from the class today. They are encouraged to read these books over the break if they get a chance. They can warm up their brain by reading the familiar text in their yellow duo tangs before reading a new book. Raz Reading Kids A-Z are also great resources for your child to read. Raz Reading also counts as reading and can have a ticket signed for reading them.

In our printing unit, students have been working so hard on using spacing and punctuation to share their ideas. Enjoy the pictures below to see how students are using their understanding of letter sounds to record their ideas the best they can. We are very proud of how hard they are working.

Reminder that today is the last day of the week for classes. Teachers have a PD day tomorrow and then everyone returns on Wednesday.
