HALLOWEEN! Tomorrow we will be doing a lot of math regarding measurement with the pumpkins we have in our class. We will be using non-standard measurement to see how tall, short and round it is. We will also be counting seeds by skip counting. Please send your child's costume to school in the morning. If you need to paint their face in the morning before they come to school so that they are ready for their costume in the afternoon, that is okay. After lunch and lunch recess, students will be given a short amount of time to get their costumes on. We have told them that there are only 3 bathroom stalls to change and it will be best if they can wear it over their clothes (t-shirt, leggings, etc.) We will help a bit but with 44 students we will not be able to dress everyone so practicing them getting their costume on tonight by themselves will be helpful.
* We are planning to have an extra snack time in the afternoon tomorrow so if you would like to send in a special snack for the afternoon, please do so.
Today we began skip counting to 20 by 2s. This is a great skill to practice on a walk to school or when riding in the vehicle on your way to school. We will be learning how to skip count by 5s and 10s to 100 in the coming weeks, as well.
There are new poems and text in your child's yellow duo tang. We add new poems weekly and require these to be returned to school each day so the students can practice. Ask your child to teach you our 'Pumpkin Song' and have them show you the letter sounds we are learning to find on the poem.
